| Defiling in 4th Edition Dark Sun |

What do people think of the new defiling rules? I think they aren't quite appropriate. It needs to be more tempting to use defiling, either by making preserving more difficult, defiling more powerful or both. Ritual defiling needs to be much more destructive (I'm not even sure it's possible right now). I find it hard to believe that the whole world could be dessicated if it had to be done one 100' circle at a time. The lore for the Dragon suggests that a high level arcane ritual should destroy a huge area: Borys' ascension destroyed the entire city of Ebe!

I just got home from a long trip. Eating out gets old after a while, so I spent the afternoon in the kitchen. ( The fruits of my labors. )
I used a recipe from Alton Brown, though I did substitute regular salt for kosher in the dough (then ran out and got the right stuff for topping while it was rising). They were super easy, and I think they came out pretty great! |

I hate the name, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I was hoping for a MacBook with a touch screen (with or without a built in keyboard). I'm not thrilled that that's not what it is, but iWork being available for it may make up for that. It seems like the perfect thing to use for taking notes while at a conference, and if it can double as the presentation tool that would be fantastic. Whether it's really useful is going to depend entirely on what developers do with it.
ETA -- More thoughts:
I'll wait for at least the 2nd generation.
It will only run software that goes through the app store. That's a big negative for me.
Whether it can multi-task is important to me. I want to be able to look at a web page while I'm writing something up in Pages. I put up with it on the iPhone because it doesn't actually come up as much as I thought it would, but it's a bigger deal on a computer-like device.
AT&T sucks; I wouldn't get the version with 3G. I'd just get a Droid and tether it (like I plan to do with my iPhone after my current contract runs out).
The iPhone virtual keyboard gets confused sometimes. Not such a big deal if I'm just sending a text or writing a quick email, but it has to work right now if I'm trying to take notes during a talk.
Using it as a book reader is very enticing, and I've never even considered getting a Kindle. |

Penny Arcade's latest lunacy makes me wonder why there isn't an anime with the premise given. If there is, I'd certainly like to know about it.
It would also probably make for an amusing one-shot RPG. |

I'm probably the last one to see it, but my thoughts anyway:
Pseudoscience FTW!
Quinto and Cho are both pretty fantastic.
Despite their claims to the contrary, it's a reboot.
The action and special effects were excellent.
J.J. Abrams' touch is quite evident.
Where were the Klingons?
Parts of it felt very "Wars" instead of "Trek".
Overall, pretty good. I think it lost something because it didn't have a TV series to provide background. |
